I am my brand, and that is a 1/2 and 1/2 Colombian-Mexican woman in my 40’s. It’s taken me a long time to figure myself out, and I’m still not there. Do we ever truly figure ourselves out though? Now before I start sharing more about myself (my brand), do you know who you are? Have you ever communicated it online on your medium of choice? If not, why? It’s crucial to getting your business not only noticed, but able to succeed. If you’re able to connect with your audience in such a way for them to say, “Hey, this lady is just like me! I can do this!” or “This guy went through the same hardships as I did, and came through on the other side!” Think about it. What is your medium of choice: writing, video, or audio. Maybe all three!
Below I share my background and where I “think” I’m heading into the future.
Brought up by a single mom, I knew the value of handwork. I saw my mom struggle with no help from ex’s for child support, so many times we went without or mom did. She was and still is my beacon of strength.
I’m now a mom of two teenagers, married and hold the same college degree as my mother has: Elementary Education. I always knew that I was going to be a teacher, but after so many years of Military moves with my husband, I just didn’t have the desire to teach children anymore at my age. So now, I have come to a crossroads. I have built up 2 successful groups on Facebook for free the past 6 years, and am now for the first time monetizing them (thanks for the push Gary Vaynerchuk!) <~~If you don’t know who he is, Google him. You won’t be sorry.
So now I’m writing this blog, actively running my FB groups and getting advertising funds from small business owners and have 2 more marketing opportunities to be the social media marketer for a few small businesses. On a side note: I’m also an amateur photographer that loves to take nature photos (like the Featured Image above that I took when we lived on Guam). I have now found a new medium through Instagram to share my photos with uplifting quotes from famous people. (Check out my Instagram: dnelsonmedia) Don’t know what the future holds, but in the meantime, I’m having a blast!
Thank you for taking the time to read my short bio. Please share in the comments how your “story” has made you successful in your industry.
